Texans No Longer Pursuing Larry Johnson
November 11th, 2009 | by Mike Kerns |Not a big surprise. Cedric Benson had less of a rap sheet and potential problems and he was younger. And Houston was still too cheap to sign him. So I was fairly confident they wouldn’t even give free agent RB Larry Johnson a workout, much less a contract offer.
“We took all the factors into consideration — football, off-the-field issues, and we determined that it wasn’t a good fit for us at this time,” Texans GM Rick Smith said. “We’ve got confidence in our backs. When we come back from our open date, we expect big things out of them.”
Ugh.

LJ will not be seen in a Texans uniform. Which has been met with mixed reactions from the Texans fan base.
So I expect us to stick with “The Fumbling Trio” for the remainder of the season. No matter what their production. When prodded by the media about the fumbling issue and the possibility of former Titans RB Chris Henry coming off of the practice squad and onto the active roster, Kubiak didn’t pull any punches.
“I know you’re tired of hearing it, but I’ll watch them practice,” Kubiak said. “I want to see how Steve responds and comes back from this break. I want to see how Ryan responds and Chris being as fresh as he can be. It’ll be a day-to-day deal for me. We’re watching Chris (Henry) Arian (Foster) every day. We can activate one of those players any time. It’s a topic that comes up. We’re discussing a lot of issues as we move forward.”
